Oh Yes. I had to reminisce. When I was about 14 I built my first 8 bit computer with an 8085 that I had to use machine code to program. Since the Z80 is close and is also one I worked with in the late 70's and early 80's. I chose to use it because they decided to stop making it in 2024. The other chip I almost used for this was the 6502 (familiar in the first Apple computers, Commodore 64, etc).
This photo is of just a test set up were I was manually loading the eeprom and testing the Z80 chips. The Hex display's I custom made because the binary to hex chips are expensive. So I programmed an ATtiny414 and designed a PCB that will accept common Anode and common Cathode.Â
